Bringing it back

Post by contours » Wed May 01, 2019 6:56 pm

I'm bringing it back!!

Lets all talk about gear.

My favourite piece of gear is my waterproof jacket, a Patagonia Triolet.

It is the best jacket on the planet, in my opinion, it has never leaked ever in its lifetime! :lol:

What is your favourite???????? 8-)

Hey there fellow outdoor enthusiast!

Oh how does the Triolet compare to the Torrentshell?

My favourite bit of kit are my awesome and life-saving Extremities gaiters can't leave the house without them!

A good bit heavier than a torrentshell but hell of a lot more features! Completely Gore-Tex, helmet compatible hood, pit zips, 2 handwarmer pockets, 2 Napoleon-style pockets and an inner mesh pocket too!!!

Mmm good aul gaiters

Ah yes Ger, I do enjoy a good triolet myself [Triolet is a poetic form consisting of only 8 lines. Within a Triolet, the 1st, 4th, and 7th lines repeat, and the 2nd and 8th lines do as well.]

We poets are so very strange!
We write and write and lose our minds!
Emotions flow in quite a range;
We poets are so very strange!
We’re happy. Then, we quickly change;
To make a world it takes all kinds.
We poets are so very strange!
We write and write and lose our minds!

My own favourite bit of gear I'd love to own is Zeal Optics Z3 goggles,I believe MS2 are outdated wastes of time. All walk leaders should be equipped with GPS googles with the way points uploaded. Furthermore, we can perform facial recognition cross referenced with the medical database. So walk leader can instantly see who to kick in the knees and slow down.

Ohhh very eloquent and moving Fionn and you know you may be onto something with those GPS goggles with waypoints uploaded!

I also think the tagging of hikers should be seriously thought about to improve group management and identification of a Hike Leaders flock.

Ah how would the tagging of hikers work? Would the tags be removable? Or are you thinking of something like this?

I myself am not from a farming background but I do believe farmers are generally one step ahead of us lay folk and I feel the ear tag could really work.

I'm sure Chael could offer his advice here? Or could Ger inform us if River Deep can supply us?
